Drupa success leads to HEIDELBERG’s order increase, ending short-time work in June

Heidelberg Druckmaschinen AG (HEIDELBERG) is pleased to announce its successful participation at the drupa trade fair in Düsseldorf. The event, which took place on Friday, June 7, 2024, saw a large number of customers from around the world visit the HEIDELBERG stand to view and invest in the company’s latest innovations.

The high level of interest and orders placed during the trade show has led to a significant increase in incoming orders for HEIDELBERG, resulting in higher production capacity and the end of short time working at German sites as early as June 2024.

Dr. David Schmedding, Head of Sales and Marketing at Heidelberger Druckmaschinen AG and Board Member for Sales and Service, expressed his delight with the success of the company’s drupa team. “Our drupa team won over customers with a fabulous stand and future-proof innovations. The positive spirit among customers and staff alike was simply mind-blowing,” he said. Schmedding also emphasized HEIDELBERG’s role as a true partner of the printing and packaging industry, with the large number of orders placed across all technologies during the trade show highlighting the company’s position as a leading system provider.

The company showcased numerous innovations in commercial and packaging printing, demonstrating how customers can use state-of-the-art technologies to maximize their business potential. “We offer the entire spectrum – from toner to inkjet and from offset to flexo printing – all controlled from a common Prinect workflow,” added Schmedding.

In addition, HEIDELBERG’s collaboration with Canon, announced at drupa, is expected to leverage growth potential in inkjet printing. Orders have already been placed for the new Jetfire 50 inkjet system, with the company aiming to address the growing demand in the commercial printing sector for industrial production based on inkjet technology. HEIDELBERG has already proven its success in providing inkjet solutions for industrial applications with the Gallus Labelfire and Gallus One for label printing.

Furthermore, the company highlighted the increasing importance of integrated offset and digital technologies, offering end-to-end solutions based on a single system to support both printing methods. This flexibility and cost-effectiveness is especially beneficial for the commercial sector. In the packaging segment, HEIDELBERG is expanding the range of applications for its new Boardmaster inline flexographic web printing machine to include the area of flexible paper packaging, in response to the growing demand for sustainable and cost-effective packaging solutions.

The success of HEIDELBERG’s participation at drupa is further reflected in the signing of several international sales contracts, including the first Jetfire 50 for the Schellenberg Group in Switzerland, a Versafire LV for Solo Druck in Germany, 15 Speedmaster CX presses for Zhengzhou Shengda in China, a Speedmaster XL 106 for Aumüller Druck in Germany, and multiple Speedmaster XL 75 and CX 75 printing units for Thung Hua Sinn in Thailand. In addition, Southern Champion Tray in the USA has also purchased the new Boardmaster inline flexographic web printing system.
