London’s renowned restaurant owner, Minor Hotels, has sought the assistance of restructuring advisers to aid in managing costs for its subsidiary, Wolseley Hospitality Group. According to sources within the industry, the project is in its preliminary stages and could result in various outcomes.
Wolseley Hospitality Group boasts upscale restaurants such as Colbert in Sloane Square and The Delaunay on Aldwych. Minor Hotels, a Thailand-based company, regained control of the group in 2022 and has since been focused on expanding its reach. Most recently, the company launched a Wolseley-branded outlet in the heart of the City.
The decision to enlist the help of AlixPartners, a leading global consulting firm, was made by Minor Hotels in an effort to effectively manage costs. However, the specifics of the project and its potential impact on the company’s current operations remain undisclosed.
When approached for comment, a spokesperson for Minor Hotels stated, “As part of our continuous efforts to enhance business operations, Minor Hotels regularly collaborates with external advisors, including AlixPartners, on strategic matters.”
Minor Hotels regained control of The Wolseley in a contentious battle with Jeremy King, the acclaimed restaurateur who originally opened the establishment in a former car showroom. Mr. King has recently launched a new restaurants venture, which includes the reopening of Le Caprice – located just around the corner from The Wolseley – under the name Arlington.
The reason behind Minor Hotels’ re-engagement with AlixPartners remains unclear. Nonetheless, with the company’s forward-looking approach, it is evident that they are dedicated to continuous business improvement.
