“Discover the Exciting World of Lunardium: A Must-Read Adventure for Mid-Grade Readers by Kath Radford”

Reading enjoyment among children has hit a record low, according to the National Literacy Trust’s annual survey conducted between January and March of this year. The survey found that over half of children aged eight to 18 do not enjoy reading in their free time, the lowest level seen in almost twenty years.

However, amidst this concerning trend, author Kath Radford’s latest book, “Lunardium”, shows promise in engaging young readers. The book follows the adventures of protagonist PollyAnna Perkins, who finds herself transported to the dark side of the moon after seeking shelter from a storm. Along with her quirky friends, Polly must navigate a dangerous journey to save both Earth and the moon from the clutches of the evil emperor Astronomus.

Growing up in the seaside town of Redcar in North Yorkshire, Radford’s childhood adventures exploring her parents’ pub and toy shop have fueled her vivid imagination. After a successful career in nursing and a master’s degree in psychology, Radford turned to writing and has since published several short stories and a crime thriller, “Beyond Belief”. “Lunardium” is her first venture into children’s literature and is the first in a trilogy.

Literary reviews of “Lunardium” have praised its engaging characters and action-packed plot, targeting a middle-grade audience. Amazon readers have also given the book glowing reviews, calling it “terrific” and “excellent”. The book has even received praise from young readers, with one 9-year-old asking for more and others eagerly awaiting the next book in the series.

Radford will be appearing at various events, including After-School Activities at Cockerton Library in Darlington on July 11, and a book reading at Redcar Library on August 16. She will also be visiting local schools to share her book with young readers.
